Confluence   Gliffy to draw.io – mass import function

If you want to convert multiple Gliffy diagrams in your Confluence instance to draw.io diagrams, you can use the mass import function. This is useful when upgrading from Gliffy to draw.io, or if you want to run both apps temporarily or permanently in your instance. All diagrams created with Gliffy can be quickly and easily imported into draw.io, and edited as if they were native draw.io diagrams.

More information about the mass import of diagrams from Gliffy to draw.io

1. Install draw.io add-on

In the General configuration under “DRAW.IO ADD-ON” select “Add-on Configuration”.

Important to consider when mass importing Gliffy diagrams

Timing of import

It is better to do the conversion outside of your company’s normal usage hours of your Confluence instance. Even though you can perform the conversion while employees are using your Confluence instance, it can significantly delay or extend the conversion process.

Backup

draw.io automatically creates a backup of the page before the conversion of a diagram begins. You can always revert to a previous version using the version history of the Confluence page.

Uninstalling Gliffy

You can keep Gliffy in your Confluence instance, even after the support period ends. Although Gliffy diagrams can then not be edited, they will be displayed as normal, and can also be converted to draw.io diagrams. If you uninstall Gliffy, draw.io can still perform the mass import, but the Gliffy diagrams can not be displayed within your Confluence instance.

Problems during mass import

If you encounter problems occurred during the mass import, please follow the steps below.
